The Youth Ambassador program was introduced in 2023. The Youth Ambassador is a representative for Pony, Junior and Young riders in our sport, at national level. The Youth Ambassador’s role is to help to promote the sport of Eventing through engagement on social/electronic media by providing content throughout the season. The aim is to present the sport in a positive but realistic light, and be a role model for potential and existing young Eventers. It also gives participants to develop their social media and communication skills and participate in other activities such as course walks, demonstrations and talks.

Applications open for the Youth Ambassador role in December each year – keep an eye on socials and the news section for updates!

2025 Youth Ambassador - David Nyhan

David is 16 years old and hails from Mallow, Co Cork. David began riding at a young age, having inherited his sister’s pony. After giving up riding for a few years, David got back into the saddle in 2019.
In 2024, David took up the reins on his sister’s horse, Carla (Tennessee Girl.) With the help of International Eventer, Sian Coleman, David and Carla began their Eventing career, finishing the season with several top 10 placings, including a 3rd at Clyda 1. David was also given the ride on Dougal (Cydonia Frankly Cruising), owned by Iona Daly, and the combination recorded a couple of top 10 finishes in their first few outings together. David is also bringing on a 4 year old, named Storm.
We’re excited to get to know David and the horses, and to follow their 2025 journey!
