Treo Eile to Support Highest Placed Thoroughbred at National Championships

General News National Championships

Eventing Ireland is delighted to announce that Treo Eile will once again reward the highest placed Thoroughbred at the upcoming Eventing Ireland National Championships, taking place at Kilguilkey House, Mallow, on 7th and 8th September.

The Eventing Ireland National Championships is the flagship event of the National calendar, with competitors from across the country vying for top honours.

Thoroughbreds are renowned for their speed, stamina, and agility—traits that make them exceptional contenders in the sport of Eventing. By supporting the highest placed Thoroughbred at this year’s championships, Treo Eile aims to showcase the potential of retired racehorses in new disciplines, demonstrating their ability to excel beyond the racetrack.

“Treo Eile is very pleased to come on board again in 2024 to sponsor the Highest Placed Thoroughbred prize at the National Championships,” said Anne O’Connor, Executive Officer of Treo Eile. “Eventing is a popular route for thoroughbreds, with their quick brain and ability to meet the time requirement of the modern cross-country course.  With our mission to Connect, Support & Promote racehorses in a second career, it is rewarding to see an increase in racehorses taking the eventing route.”

Treo Eile’s support at the championships is part of a broader effort to promote the retraining of Thoroughbreds in Eventing, including their ongoing Thoroughbred Eventing League. The highest placed Thoroughbred at the Eventing Ireland National Championships will receive €100 prize money from Treo Eile.
