What is a (T), (P) or (J) class?

(P) classes are Pony classes. These classes are limited to riders in their 12th to 16th years on ponies between the heights of 138cm and 148cm. Ponies may compete from the age of 5. Combinations must be graded to compete in Pony classes – for more information on grading and competencies see the Youth Eventing FAQs

(J) classes are Junior classes. These classes are limited to riders in their 14th to 18th years, on horses over 148cm. Combinations must be graded to compete in Junior classes – for more information on grading and competencies see the Youth Eventing FAQs

(T) classes are Training classes. Training classes are run under Eventing Ireland rules – all of the same rules regarding eliminations, tack, dress, etiquette etc apply as in regular classes. Training classes are open to all riders/horses and results are not kept on the system. Results remain visible for the weekend of the event, but are removed on Monday morning.

  • Results earned in Training classes may NOT be used as MERs towards Internationals or any Championship
  • Underage riders competing in Training classes are required to submit a competency form for the correct horse/level
  • Results earned in Training classes do not count towards improvement of ERQI Ratings
