Dear Member
Further to our previous letter of 30 May 23, we would like to clarify a few points. The letter was sent with the intention of informing everyone of the state of play with the Independent Review of the Sports Capital Grant. It was not intended to upset or embarrass any individual, and we apologise if any hurt was caused.
The Review continues, and we hope to have the results soon. Eventing Ireland is committed to making the report’s contents public and addressing all issues and recommendations within.
The Board of 2023 is undergoing a significant transformation. Over the years, our governance has become outdated. As a result, we are reviewing the constitution, policies, procedures and every committee’s terms of reference. We ask that you have patience as this process takes time when appropriately completed. It is heavily time-consuming for those involved. However, we have committed to having it complete in time for 2024. At this point, we can apply for the Sports Code Compliance from Sport Ireland. We have engaged Anne McFarland, an expert in this area, to support us. The Constitution and the committee terms of reference (including the regions) will require member consultative sessions, and we ask for you to get involved where possible when the time arises.
The Strategic Plan acts as a significant aspect of the transformation. We have engaged Brian McNeice and Teneo to guide us through this process. Teneo has substantial experience in this area have worked with IRFU, FAI and Cricket Ireland, to name a few. We undertook our first session with the members last week in Naas, where Teneo was impressed with the quality of the material received. However, due to the low turnout of members outside the Leinster regions, we have agreed to repeat the process in Munster and Northern Ireland, with dates still being decided upon. There will also be a survey sent to each member, so everyone will have an opportunity to provide their input.
Please get involved: this is your opportunity to shape your Eventing Ireland for the Future!
Once the consultative phase is complete, we will work with the regions to finalise the Strategic Plan and produce our first annual operational plan for 2024.
